God wants so much to be in a constant, living relationship with you that He sent His son to die, so that you could be made holy, so that by your newfound holiness God could place his Spirit - His constant presence - within you. Jesus faced not just the shame and suffering of the cross, but the undeserved weight of humanity's sin so that He could "be with us always, to the end of the age".
I was recently reading a devotional by Charles Spurgeon where he was talking about God's jealousy. Human jealousy is sometimes good and sometimes sinful, but God's jealousy is always holy. When God is jealous for something, it is because it is something which rightfully belongs to Him, and He is perfectly just in desiring it. And some of the things which rightfully belong to Him are our attention, our delight, our communication, and our satisfaction.
I believe one of the most insidious lessons we learn in this life is to constantly entertain and distract ourselves. Such distractions might be necessary for the lost people of the world, who don't have the fire of God's presence burning within them. But once the perfect has arrived, we insult that perfection by continuing on with the imperfect.
It ought to be the most easy, natural thing in the world for you to pause from what you're doing, and enjoy a peaceful quiet moment with your God, reflecting on His goodness, speaking with Him about your day and your life as any earthly son might chat with his earthly father. What keeps you from that relationship? Maybe the guilt of unconfessed sin makes it too difficult to face Him. Or perhaps you fear He might ask you to change your life in a way that's less selfish.
Let me remind you that your God is good! "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (Rom 8:28) It's true that the process of sorting out the messes we've made of our lives can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing, but He has oceans of goodness He can't wait to pour out upon you! Those blessings lie just on the other side of cleaning out your trash; why not get it over with so you can step into everything He has for you?
Instead of drowning him out with more tv and music, instead of pursing another earthly pleasure which will only end with a feeling of listlessness and dissatisfaction (ennui), why not finally give in and learn to enjoy the supreme delight of ages Himself?
