I'm Your Biggest Fan

October 10, 2026

and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.

(Mark 12:30 NASB)

Growing up in Indiana, it was always easy to spot a Colts fan. At a bare minimum, they wore the jersey, they decorated their car with decals and toys, or they hung a Colts flag outside their house. When game day arrived, they would paint themselves and their cars blue and white, they would wear wigs and wave pom-poms, and even if the game was playing on the restaurant TV, they'd be unapologetically hootin' and hollerin' for every first down.

When people look at you and your life, what do they think of your feelings towards God? True, God doesn't have a jersey or team colors with which to paint your face. But do they catch you praying before you eat? Do you mention that thing you learned at church or read in your Bible? Do you filter your words and actions through the lens of scripture? Is your disposition full of hope and joy because you keep God and His blessings at the forefront of your mind, trusting Him to "work all things together for good to those who love God"?

Sadly, too many church-attenders can't be distinguished from regular, flesh-driven people. They watch the same filthy entertainment, they gossip and make the same rude jokes, and they respond to negative circumstances with the same bitterness, anger, and revenge as everyone else. On Sunday morning we see people with mouths closed and hands in pockets during worship, or checking the clock or their smart phones during the sermon. "This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me." (Matt 15:8 NASB)

Let it not be so with us! Let us draw near to the Lord with our hearts, not just our feet. Begin each day by remembering and pondering His good gifts to you, and use those thoughts to stir up true emotion in your heart towards Him. Carry that love with you throughout your day, pausing as necessary to recharge your feelings with the memories of His goodness. People will notice the change in you!
