He's Looking to Strengthen You

October 19, 2026

For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth, so that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.

(2 Chr 16:9a NASB)

This is another one of God's beautiful promises: His eyes actively scan, back and forth, throughout the earth, looking for someone to support or strengthen. His eyes aren't closed, or distracted by world events. They're not looking away in shame, embarrassment, or anger. They're are actively looking - seeking - for someone to strongly support.

Many of us feel weak at times: weak to flee temptation and resist the devil, to do what's right and good when the opportunity comes our way, to just carry out the basic duties of life. We would all love to be standing there one day, when - suddenly! - the eyes of the Lord are upon us! Not judgmental, angry eyes, but eyes looking for someone to strongly support! And at that very second we are filled with supernatural strength to resist evil, to love our enemies, and to be the parent, child, sibling, friend, neighbor, or coworker who shines His glorious light into this dark world.

This promise, like many Biblical promises, has a condition attached: "those whose heart is completely His." Who or what is your heart fixed upon today? Is your top priority to be His light in the world, to share His good news through word and deed to everyone who crosses your path? Are you bringing His extraordinary into the ordinary humdrum of your life? That's the one for whom God eyes are looking. But if you're trying to come up with a killer comeback to that mean person, if you're plotting how you'll get away with sin, if you're worrying about your nest egg and your retirement, don't be surprised if God's eyes to pass you by.

My friends, when we turn to God, committing our lives to His kingdom and glory, we go from being boring background characters to living a storybook life! Like any good story, your life will have ups and down, twists and turns, but we will live empowered by our creator, and chapter after chapter we will be brought to our very own happy ending.
